How to Create an Estimate Template

đź’ˇEstimate templates let you save a pre-built scope: locations, cost centres, and line items. So you can apply it to a new estimate in one step instead of building it from scratch each time. They're useful for common job types, like a standard bathroom or garage water damage scope.

Steps:

Creating an Estimate Template

  • Navigate to Admin, and under Authorised Works, select Estimate Templates.

  • In the top right corner, select New.

  • Enter the Name of your estimate template, and any additional notes, like a description.

  • Select the Division if required.

  • From here, build the estimate template the same way you would build a usual estimate:
  • Select Add Location, choose the location Type, name the location, and select Add.

  • Select the small + next to the location to add a cost centre, and start entering your line items.

  • Repeat this until you've completed your estimate template, then click Save.

Applying an estimate template

  • In the relevant job, under Estimates, click New Estimate and select Scope.

  • From the Template dropdown, select your template, then click Apply Template.

  • The estimate template will populate with all of its locations, cost centres, and line items. You can edit the details here if needed.

  • If any changes are made, click Save.

FAQ

Can I use the same estimate template across multiple jobs? Yes. An estimate template isn't tied to a specific job, once it's saved under Admin, you can apply it to any estimate via the Template dropdown.

What happens if I edit the values after applying a template? Editing values in the estimate only changes that estimate, it doesn't update the saved template. To change the template itself, go back to Admin > Estimate Templates and edit it there.

Does the Division field restrict where a template can be used? The Division field lets you tag a template to a specific division (e.g. NSW, QLD, VIC), which can help narrow down the Template dropdown when applying it to a job in that division.
