How to Edit a Site Form

đź’ˇSite forms can be edited to change the questions, response types and layout used to capture information on the job. Once a site form has been used, some restrictions apply to protect the data that's already been collected.

Steps:

Open the site form

Navigate to the relevant site form under Admin, then click into the section or question you want to edit.

Understand the editing restriction

Once a site form has been used in Loop, you cannot delete a question entirely, as it's linked to that site form's data. This restriction helps prevent errors and maintains the integrity of the form. You can still edit existing questions or add new ones.

Edit a question

For each question you can edit the question text or reference tag, or change the response type:

  • Text: displays a text box where users can enter a response. You can add placeholder text (this appears in grey and disappears once typing begins) or predefined text. Text is chosen by default when you create a new question and is the most commonly used option.

  • Yes/No: allows users to select either option.
  • Option: lets you add multiple choices, but users can only select one.

  • Rating: lets users give a rating out of five stars.

  • Thumb Up Down: gives users the option to choose either a thumbs up or thumbs down on the site form.

  • Date: allows users to select a date from a calendar.

  • Multiple Options: enables users to select more than one option.

  • Signature: provides a signature field.

  • Photo: allows users to upload a photo.

Reorder, clone or add questions

  • Click and drag the lines on the left side of a question or section to reorder it.

  • Click the clone icon next to the question or section name to duplicate it, cloning a question duplicates just that question, while cloning a section duplicates that section and all the questions within it.

Work around the edit restriction on a used site form

  • If a site form has already been used, the best way to work around the restriction on deleting or restructuring its questions is to clone the entire site form. Click Clone in the bottom left corner — this creates a cloned site form, which you'll recognize by its name showing in brackets that it's a clone (for example, "Leak Detection Report (Cloned #1)").

FAQ

Why can't I delete a question from my site form? Once a site form has been used in Loop, its questions are linked to data that's already been captured, so they can't be deleted entirely. You can still edit the question text, reference tag or response type, or add new questions.

What's the difference between Option and Multiple Options? Option lets users select only one choice from the list. Multiple Options lets users select more than one.

How do I duplicate a question or section? Click the clone icon next to the question or section name. Cloning a question duplicates just that question; cloning a section duplicates the section and every question inside it.

How do I clone an entire site form? Click Clone in the bottom left corner of the site form and confirm. This is also the best way to work around the restriction on deleting or heavily restructuring questions in a site form that's already been used.
